[Tidus wakes up, face down in water. He gets up out of the water and looks around: desert as far as the eye can see]

Tidus
"Where am I?"
"I forgive you, this time."
"Be good for a while, okay?"

[Tidus ventures through the desert. During the first random encounter, Auron and Lulu show up to help him. After they defeat their enemy...]

Tidus
"The others?"

Lulu
"Haven't found them yet."
"We're supposed to stay in one place if we get split up."

[Auron starts to walk away]

Tidus
"Wait here if you want."
"He's not."

[They make their way through the desert. They soon encounter Wakka, hiding underneath a destroyed machina]

Tidus
"Wakka!"
"You alone?"

[He goes "Mmmhmm"]

Wakka
"Where's Yuna?"
[Lulu looks at Tidus, who looks at Lulu. Auron stares straight ahead. All is silent]
"Dammit!"
"First I lose Yuna, then I'm ambused by machina!"
[He kicks the metal]
"Great day I'm having."

[They continue through the desert, eventually meeting up with Kimahri. He's attempting to climb up a sand dune, but finds it's impossible and slides back down again. He shakes his head]

Kimahri
"Yuna...gone."

Tidus
"It's not your fault, Kimahri!"

[Kimahri looks at Tidus. The group continues their way through the desert, eventually encountering Rikku]

Rikku
"Oh!"
"Hey, guys!"
"Where's Yunie?"

Tidus
"Gone."

Lulu
"Gone... Some guardian I am."

Rikku
"Umm..."
"There's something I wanna tell you, but promise not to say anything."
[Wakka looks pissed]
"No glaring either!"
"I know where we are. We're on Bikanel Island."
"There's a place us Al Bhed call Home near here."
"Yunie's there, I'm sure of it!"
"Other Al Bhed must've come and rescued her!"

Wakka
"Rescued? You mean kidnapped!"

Tidus
"What does it matter as long as she's safe?"

Rikku
"That's right!"
"Anyway, I will take you there if you promise..."
"that you won't tell anyone about it."
"Especially not Yevonites, okay?"
"You know they don't like us Al Bhed."
"Who knows what they'll do if they knew?"

Wakka
"Gimme a break. What are you accusing Yevon of this time?"

Rikku
"Yevon did something really bad to us before."

Wakka
"Well, you Al Bhed must've deserved it."

[Tidus goes "arrrgh!"]

Tidus
"Can't you guys... talk about this later?"

Rikku
"Just promise you won't tell anyone about this island. Promise?"

Tidus
"Wakka, come on!"

Wakka
"All right, I promise! Lead the way."

Rikku
"You got it!"

[They keep travelling through the desert, until, eventually...]

Rikku
"Over here!"
[She climbs up a sand dune. Then...]
"Aaaaaaa!"

[Everyone walks up the dune]

Tidus
"Rikku!"

[FMV: Home is being decimated and destroyed]

Wakka
"What? Yuna's down there?"

Lulu
"Of all the places... Let's go!"

[Al Bhed soldiers are fighting and killing fiends. Tidus and company run past them]

Wakka
"Where's Yuna?"

[An Al Bhed soldier falls over and holds his stomach]

Rikku
"Keyakku!"
[She runs to his side]
"Who? Who's attacking us?"
"Fru tet drec du oui?"
("Who did this to you?")

Keyakku
"Yevon... Guado..."

[He dies]

Rikku
"Keyakku? Keyakku!"

Lulu
"A war? Between Yevon and the Al Bhed?"

"Dryd ec fnuhk!"
"Guado ku vun dra summoner."
("That is wrong!")
("Guado go for the summoner.")

Rikku
"Vydran..."
("Father...")

[A bald man approaches her, kneels beside Keyakku, and feels for his pulse. Rikku looks like she's about to cry]

"You Rikku's friends? Well, just don't stand there, come on!"
"Let's go kick those Guado out of our Home!"

[They run into Home. Rikku and Tidus stay behind]

Tidus
"Who...?"

Rikku
"Cid."
"Leader of the Al Bhed... He's my dad."

Tidus
"Let's go."

Rikku
"Yeah. We have to save Yunie."

Tidus
"Not only Yuna. Right?"

Rikku
"Right!"

[They enter Home]

Wakka
"Yuna! Where are you?"

[A Guado soldier and 3 bombs suddenly descend on the group; you battle against them. After they're defeated...]

Wakka
"What in Yevon's name are those Guado thinking?"

Rikku
"This is terrible!"

[Everyone runs to the next room]

Cid
"Drec pedac!"
"Rikku! Oui nayt sa?"
"Oui ku ihtan, duu! E ys majamehk Home!"
"Yht dra fiend fedr ed!"
("This bites!")
("Rikku! You read me?")
("You go under, too! I am leveling Home!")
("And the fiend with it!")

Rikku
"Oh, no!"

Wakka
"What'd he say!?"

Rikku
"We have to get underground!"

Auron
"Where's Yuna?"

Rikku
"The Summoner's Sanctum! This way!"

[A large fiend ambushes the group. Another battle, another defeat. The next scene shows Rikku running down some stairs, with the rest of the group following her]

Rikku
"Over here!"

[New room, same destruction. Walls are on fire. Everything's in chaos and ruin. Everyone stands silently for a few moments]

Wakka
"This place done for."

Rikku
[Sadly]
"You're right. You're right, Wakka."
"We Al Bhed, we... we weren't always like this."
"Sin destroyed the island where we all used to live."
"After that, we were scattered to every corner of Spira."
"But then, my dad brought the Al Bhed together again."
"If we put our minds to it and worked together, then we could make a new home."
"Everyone worked hard, we had our Home back again..."
"But now... Why did things have to turn out this way?"

[Two beasts stand on either side of the group]

Wakka
"Rikku..."
"Damn those Guado! What are they thinking?"

[Battle vs. the beasts. After defeating them, the group runs down the stairs]

Lulu
"Rikku, what is the Summoners' Sanctum?"

Rikku
"The Summoners' Sanctum is where we keep the summoners. We keep them safe there."

Wakka
"You kidnapped them."

[Rikku nods]

Rikku
"I know it's against the teachings and all that..."

Wakka
"I get why you did it, but..."

Tidus
"Well, I sure don't get it, Wakka."
"They might get hurt on their pilgrimage so you kidnap them?"
"I mean, if the summoners don't do their job, then who will beat Sin?"
"You want to protect them, I know. But guardians are there for that."
"If guardians do their job well, summoners will be safe!"
[Everyone's silent]
"Right?"
[More silence]
"Right!?"

Kimahri
"It's quiet. Kimahri goes now."

[Kimahri walks down the steps to the Summoners' Sanctum. The others follow in slow motion; not a single word is uttered. Only Tidus and Rikku stay behind. They stare at each other. Rikku turns and goes down the steps. The screen goes black]

Rikku
"Yuna, please be here!"

[Screen goes dark. Tidus follows them into the Summoners' Sanctum. Once there, Rikku takes a look around, and gasps. It's getting destroyed; lots of fire and dead bodies are in the room]

Kimahri
"Yuna!"

[All is silent for a moment. Then...]

Dona
"She's not here."
"Hello again."
"Wait there until we have performed the sending."

Isaaru
"They died...protecting us."
"It's not much, but the least we can do is give them a proper sending."

[Pacce runs up to Tidus]

Pacce
"Hey, what's "sacrificed"?"
"The Al Bhed said summoners were being sacrificed."
"That summoners shouldn't have to do a pilgrimage..."

Tidus
"Why couldn't they trust guardians to protect summoners..."
"The Al Bhed had no right stopping their pilgrimage!""

Rikku
"The pilgrimages have to stop!"
"If they don't, and they get to Zanaraknd..."
"They might defeat Sin. Yunie could...but then she..."
"Yunie will die, you know?"
[Cue sad music]
"You know, don't you?"
"Summoners journey to get the Final Aeon."
"Yuna told you, didn't she?"
"With the Final Aeon, she can beat Sin...but then..."
"If she calls it, then the Final Aeon's gonna kill her."
"Even if she defeats Sin, it will kill Yunie too, you know?"

[She falls to her knees in anguish]

Tidus
"Was I the only one who didn't know?"
[He goes up to Rikku]
"Tell me why! Why were hiding it?"
"Why didn't I know?"

Wakka
"We weren't hiding it..."

Lulu
"It was just...too hard to say."

[Auron and Kimahri are shown, silent and motionless. Tidus shrieks, then falls to his knees]

Tidus
"Lulu! How could you? How could you? Isn't she like a sister to you?"
"I thought you were family!"
"Why don't you do something, Wakka?"

Lulu
"Don't you think we tried to stop her?"
"She follows...her heart."

Wakka
"Yuna, she knew what she was doing when she chose to become a summoner."
"To face Sin, ya? Yuna knew!"

Rikku
"But, Wakka, that's just totally wrong!"
"Summoners shouldn't have to sacrifice themselves..."
"just so the rest of Spira can be happy, right?"

[The pyreflies of fallen bodies form a Wendigo]

Isaaru
"But that is our choice..."

Dona
"We all live in fear of Sin. You know that."

Isaaru
"A world without Sin..."
"That is the dream of all Yevon's children."
"And we will use that power, even if it means our lives!"

[They summon Ifrit and Valefor to confront the Wendigo. Tidus is still pissed & in anguish. I might've slightly screwed up this next series of Tidus quotes due to not being able to pause, and not wanting to have to go through this scene for the 4th time, so bear with me. The words should be 99% accurate...it's just the way they're set up, and the punctuation, which may be off. So, bear with me; I was sick and tired of that part, you see]

Tidus
"And I've been telling Yuna"
""Let's go to Zanaraknd together!""
"I told her all the things...we could...we could..."
"But Yuna, she'd..."
"just smile."

[Valefor looks at Tidus. The screen goes white. We see the flashback of their conversation before going on the Mi'ihen Highroad]

Yuna
"Hey, watch!"

[She whistles]

Tidus
"Hey, you got pretty good."

Yuna
"You sound sad."

Tidus
"Yeah, maybe."

Yuna
"Wanna scream?"

Tidus
"I really don't think that's gonna help this time."

Yuna
"You know what?"
"It's embarassing to say this myself..."
"But summoners and their guardians are kind of like Spira's ray of light."
"A lot of people in Spira depend on us."
"I learned to practice smiling when I'm feeling sad, you know?"
"I know it's hard."

Tidus
"Yeah... I undestand. I think."

Yuna
"Right, now let's see what you can do."

[We see them laughing, except no sound is heard]

Yuna
"I want my journey to be full of laughter."

[Scene returns to Home]

Tidus
"I can't let her die!"
"I'll find her!"

[Everybody leaves the room and runs up a flight of stairs. The scene changes to inside the bridge of a large vehicle; Cid runs in]

Cid
"Hu desa! Ku, ku, ku!"
("No time! Go, go, go!")

Brother
"Three minute mavd!"
("Three minute left!")

Cid
"Rinno, rinno! Oui ryja one minute!"
("Hurry, hurry! You have one minute!")

[Tidus runs in]

Tidus
"Where's Yuna?"

Cid
"Ajanouha uh puynt?"
("Everyone on board?")

"Ajanouha ymeja!"
("Everyone alive!")

[Tidus goes up to Cid and pulls him around]

Tidus
"I said, where is she?"
"Answer me! Answer me, damn you!"

[The rest of the group looks on]

Cid
"What'll you do when you find her, eh?"

Tidus
"I didn't know anything about what a summoner is supposed to do."
"And I told her all those things without even knowing."
"I've got to tell her. I've got to tell her I'm sorry!"

Cid
"That's it? You're gonna tell her you're sorry?"
"And then you just drag her to Zanarkand and make her fight Sin, huh?"
"You're all the same--let the summoner die so we can live in peace!"

[He grabs Tidus and flips him onto the floor]

Tidus
"No!"
"I'm not gonna let Yuna die!"

Cid
"Hah! Words! Show me action!"

Tidus
"I'm telling you, she won't die!"

Cid
"Boy, don't forget those words, 'cause if you do..."
"I'm gonna make you regret it."

Tidus
"I won't."

[Cid looks into a large flourescent sphere of light in the middle of the bridge. Tidus approaches him]

Tidus
"So you know where she is?"

Cid
"'Course not. That's why we're gonna look!"
"Using this airship!"

Wakka
"A-Airship?"

[The ship rumbles. Brother is in the pilot seat]

Brother
"Vydran! Nayto du ku!"
("Father! Ready to go!")

Cid
"Oaaryy! Y vmekrd 1000 years ujantia!"
("Yeehaa! A flight 1000 years overdue!")

[FMV: a section of the ground beside home opens up. Sand pours in. The Airship lifts out of the ground]

Brother
"Fruy! Ed sujac!"
("Whoa! It moves!")

Cid
"Necg pek, feh pek!"
("Risk big, win big!")

[FMV. The airship lifts off fully, as fiends fly towards it. It turns and flies away]

Brother
"Fruy! Ed vmeac!"
("Whoa! It flies!")

Cid
"Haqd, fa ica dryd!"
("Next, we use that!")

Brother
[Looks down]
"Frydajan oui cyo."
("Whatever you say.")

[He starts singing the Hymn of the Fayth. Cid joins in. The other Al Bhed sing as well. Rikku looks really sad]

Wakka
"What's goin' on?"

Rikku
"We're...we're going to blow up our Home."

Lulu
"How?"

Cid
"With one of the forbidden machina!"
[He turns to face an Al Bhed to the left of Brother]
"Nayto? Vena!"
("Ready? Fire!")

[FMV: a side of the Airship opens up. A barrage of missiles exits it, connecting with Home, creating a huge explosion. The explosion shockwave gains speed on the airship and overpasses it, but the airship speeds up, clears the blast, and avoids destruction]

Cid
"Gah-hah-hah-hah! Nadinh du cyht!"
("Gah-hah-hah-hah! Return to sand!")

[Brother's crying. Cid approaches him]

Cid
"Hu haat vun daync!"
"Fryd ec kuut ypuid machina, ec drao lyh pa piemd yhaf, oui caa?"
("No need for tears!")
("What is good about machina, is they can be built anew, you see?")

[Screen changes to Wakka and Rikku]

Wakka
"Hey, look. Don't get so down."
"Boom! Like happy festival fireworks, ya?"

Rikku
"You can cram your happy festival, you big meanie!"

[She walks away. Wakka hangs his head. Tidus goes to speak to Cid, who's still looking into the sphere]

Tidus
"Did you find out anything about Yuna?"

Cid
"I'm lookin' into it, okay?"
[Tidus sighs]
"Don't worry, I'm using a sphere oscillo-finder. If she's out there, we'll get her."

Tidus
"A sphere oscillo-finder?"

Cid
"It's an ancient machina."
"I don't know how it works either, so don't ask me, okay?"

Lulu
"And you still use it?"

[Cid laughs]

Cid
"I don't even rightly know how this rig flies, either!"
"All because of the Yevon taboo on machina, we're running around in the dark here!"
"Ain't it a rush, kiddos?"

[Tidus leaves the bridge to explore the ship. Along the way, he finds Dona, sitting down]

Dona
"Look, I'm really tired. Leave me."
"If it's not an emergency, would you mind leaving?"

[Tidus sighs]

Tidus
"Okay."

[He starts to walk away]

Dona
"Wait... There's something I want to ask you."
"What would you think if I said I...I was giving up my pilgrimage?"
[Pick between "Sure! Sounds good to me." or "Who cares?". Let's be nice and pick the first one]
"Unusual."
"Most people would never forgive a summoner who quit."

Tidus
"Why's that?"

Dona
"Behind my back, they would say I was abandoning my duty."

Tidus
"So, who cares?"
"Why not do your own thing and let them say what they want!"

Dona
"Easy for you to say."
"But...you do have a point."
"Maybe Barthello and I should go someplace far away."

[Tidus returns to the bridge. Everyone's there. Auron is talking to Cid]

Auron
"After rescuing Yuna, then what?"
"You want to keep her safe, correct?"
"Would you seek to stop her pilgrimage?"

Cid
"Of course!"
"If she continues this fool pilgrimage, she will die!"
"Sure as if you killed her yourself."
"No hare-brained law or teaching can send my little niece to her death!"
"When I save her, I'll make her give up being a summoner quicker than a desert melts ice!"

Auron
"Even against her will?"

Cid
"Better than a dog's death!"
"And I'll take down anyone who don't agree!"

Auron
"You are the captain."

Cid
"Good! Then it's settled!"

[Auron walks out of the bridge. Tidus speaks to Brother]

Brother
"Vydran! Fa vuiht Yuna!"
("Father! We found Yuna!")

Cid
"Frana!?"
("Where!?")

Brother
"E femm cruf oui!"
("I will show you!")

Tidus
"Yuna?"

[The screen above the bridge shows a picture. We see Yuna in a rather skimpy wedding dress. Standing beside her is....Seymour!?!? He's dressed in an outlandish outfit. Behind him, to the right, is Maester Mika. A guard with a gun is standing on either side of Yuna and Seymour. The camera pans out to show they're at the top of a series of staircases with a large building in the background. Several other people and soldiers are there. The screen goes white]

Tidus
"Where was that!?"

Lulu
"The Palace of St. Bevelle. Heart of Yevon."

Tidus
"Gramps, let's move!"

Cid
"Easy, kiddo."
"Bevelle's defenses are top-notch."

Tidus
"What's the matter, gramps? You scared?"
"Yuna's there, so we go and get her!"
"And that's all!"

Cid
"You got guts."
"Cad luinca du Bevelle! Vimm cbaat yrayt!"
("Set course to Bevelle! Full speed ahead!")

Brother
"Nukan!"
("Roger!")

[The Airship speeds up. Tidus falls down]
